"Every child born into the world is a new thought of God,
an
ever-fresh and
Radiant
possibility."
- Kate Douglas Smith
Dear Parent,
This booklet contains educational goals that have been developed for the
Children's School of New Cumberland Kindergarten program. These goals are being
provided to you so that you may have as much information as is possible to
assist you in choosing proper placement for your child for the coming school
year. Choosing where to place your child is an important decision that may
impact him/her for years to come. It is our hope that you will consider your
options carefully with your child's best interest in mind. Many factors will
influence your decision. Careful consideration of kindergarten goals is just one
piece of the placement puzzle. Methods used to obtain the goals should also
influence your thinking. Traditional teacher directed lessons, self-direction,
group and individual learning techniques, hands on experiences, visual
presentation and auditory experiences are all used by Children's School teachers
to present the children with new challenges.
Formal subjects taught are:
Pre-Reading Readiness
Math
Handwriting
Health
Science
Computer Skills
Please keep in mind that these are goals and although we strive to achieve
them, not all of them will be met. These goals represent the ideal and thus
carry with them our hopes for your child's kindergarten education. Should you
have questions regarding these goals please address them to the kindergarten
teacher or the school director.
Sincerely,
Judith L. Carney
Director
